November 23 - Kiva reaches $ 15,000,000 in loans from over 150,000 users. Oprah episode reairs in the US on Thanksgiving Day.

November 4 - Kiva reaches $ 14,000,000 in loans from over 139,000 users.

October 16 - Kiva reaches $ 13,000,000 in loans.

September 29 - Kiva featured in Australia's The Sydney Morning Herald sparks an increase in lenders from down under. (Kiva Friends Discussion)

September 27 - Kiva reaches $ 12,000,000 in loans from over 120,000 users.

September 8 - Kiva featured in an NHK documentary about social entrepreneurs. (Kiva Friends Discussion)

September 5 - Kiva reaches $ 11,000,000 in loans from over 105,000 users.

September 4 - Kiva founders appear with President Clinton to help promote his new book, Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World on an episode of the Oprah show. Kiva is featured in Chapter 2: Giving Money. See Matt Flannery talks about Oprah. Kiva reaches 100,000 registered users.

September 3 - A Kiva segment airs on the NBC Today Show and web site. Changing the world one loan at a time

August 22 - People of the Web story featured on Yahoo's home page, Kiva crashes. "Welcome, Yahoo! users. We're sorry, our servers never stood a chance. While our engineers look into the problem, please take a moment to add your email to our email list or make a donation to Kiva.org"

August 22 - Kiva reaches 90,000 registered users.

August 21 - Kiva featured on the popular Yahoo series, People of the Web

August 21 - Wall Street Journal - A New Generation Reinvents Philanthropy.

August 17 - The Kiva Toolbar (for the Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers) is released.

August 15 - Kiva reaches $10,000,000 in loans from over 89,000 users.

April 10 - FRONTLINE/WORLD story is rebroadcast on PBS.

April 5 - TIME Magazine - Lending a hand.

March 28 - Kiva reaches $4,000,000 in loans from over 43,000 users.

March 27 - New York Times - You, Too, Can Be a Banker to the Poor. Nicholas Kristof, columnist for the New York Times and Kiva Lender, visits an entprepreneur he loaned to in Kabul, and writes about the experience. The article becomes the 3rd most emailed article of the day, and in three days over $250,000 is loaned.

March 23 - Kiva Friends, a discussion forum for Kiva goes online.

February 22 - Kiva reaches $3,000,000 in loans from over 30,000 users.

Week of December 25 - Kiva reaches $2,000,000 in loans.

December 23 - Young Donors Turn to Micro Loans on NPR.

December 10 - New York Times Magazine - Web-Based Microfinancing

November 21 - Kiva reaches $1,000,000 in loans from over 13,000 users.

October 31 - FRONTLINE/WORLD - Uganda: A Little Goes A Long Way airs on PBS. The resulting traffic explosion promptly crashes the Kiva.org website for three days. Once the website is back online, over $250,000 is loaned in the week following.

July 31 - Business Week - A Little Money Goes A Long Way

July - CEO and Founder of Linked-In, Reid Hoffman, joins Kiva.org's Board of Directors.

March 1 - BBC World - Online loans help world's poor.

February - Kiva.org launches its MFI (microfinance institution) partnership strategy and posts businesses for funding from the first Kiva Field Partners: Prisma Microfinance (Honduras and Nicaragua), Senegal Ecovillage Microfinance Fund, MIFEX (Ecuador), Youth Self Employment Foundation (Tanzania), REDC Bulgaria, The Shurush Initiative (Gaza), and Life in Africa Foundation (Uganda).

'January ?? - Premal Shah leaves PayPal to become Kiva.org President.

2005

October ?? - Matt Flannery leaves his job at Tivo.

October 27 - Kiva is featured on Daily Kos. In a matter of hours all loans listed on Kiva.org are funded.

October 12 - Kiva officially launches.

September - Each member of the "Dream Team" fully repays their loan.

March 25 - Elizabeth Omalla is the first recipient of a Kiva loan. Shortly after the other 6 Kiva Loans are funded, for a total of $2,150. These original entrepreneurs become known as the "Dream Team".
